We live, we learn, we make mistakes, we grow from them, we move forward.
Today I met a 23 year old man from Togo, Africa who moved to the U.S. when he was 18. We sat and talked about the history of Africa, we talked about the U.S.A. and it's current situation, it's past, where it's heading. We talked about values and about life, about the future.
Today I met a woman who moved to the U.S. five years ago with her husband from Sibera, Russia. We talked about growing facial hair and drinking vodka to stay warm. We talked about cultural differences between many nations of the world. We talked about the past and about the future.
Today I met an 82 year old man from Brooklyn, New York I wouldn't have guessed was a day over 55. We talked about his amazing experiences in his 30 years in the Marine Corps, and about his personal triumphs since then. We talked about the possibilities for the future if I chose to stay in the Marines as a reservist, about doing what is best for me and ignoring what is not. We talked about our country, about careers, about living instead of just being alive.
Today I was given a third chance at a company I never would have wanted or asked for if I had not stilled my heart and my mind and trusted in the Lord to guide me.
Today was an amazing day.
Tomorrow is looking bright.
